In July, Ukraine recorded a sharp increase in cases of COVID-19, almost 12 thousand cases, in June there were two thousand of them, but the load on hospitals is not so great. Chief sanitary doctor Ihor Kuzin does not see the need to introduce restrictive measures at the moment.

He announced this at a briefing, writes lb.ua.

He noted that there are currently more than 2,500 patients in hospitals, which indicates that the burden on hospitalization is not so great. Ihor Kuzin added that this is a normal indicator for an outbreak of disease.

He also emphasized that the increase in morbidity is also observed in the USA and the countries of the European Union. A substrain of «Omicron» FliRT is usually recorded there. This subspecies does not cause severe forms in vaccinated and revaccinated individuals.

Currently, the indicators of the incidence of covid in Ukraine do not indicate the beginning of the epidemic season or the need to introduce restrictive measures. As noted by Ihor Kuzin, usually in Ukraine the outbreak of the disease occurred in September. Currently, ten variants of «Omicron» are circulating in the country.

We will remind that the first fatal case caused by the new subvariant of the Omicron coronavirus — FLiRT — was recently registered in Ivano-Frankivsk region. An 80-year-old woman died.
