Dental prosthetics for military personnel and veterans: how a new project from the National Health Service in Mykolaiv Oblast works

In the Mykolaiv region, servicemen and veterans can receive dental prosthetics services free of charge in hospitals. Services can be obtained at the regional clinical dental polyclinic and at the city hospital of Snihurivka.

This was reported in the press service of the National Health Service of Ukraine.

As you know, 750 million hryvnias were allocated from the state budget to finance the project.

«From April 1, 2024, the National Health Service of Ukraine launched a project to finance dental prosthetics services for active military personnel and veterans. 750 million hryvnias has been allocated for its financing from the state budget. Medical institutions of the South are actively contracting under this package. I would like to note that the package provides an opportunity for patients — active and former military personnel — to receive dentures absolutely free of charge. The need for the service is high, so I encourage patients to actively apply to legally operated medical institutions, — said the head of the Southern Interregional Department of the NHSU,» Denys Chornyi.

Service providers from all over Ukraine can conclude contracts with the NHSU under a package of medical guarantees and receive funds for each treated patient.

The tariff for a medical service is 2,765 hryvnias, to which correction coefficients are applied according to the type of medical service. The maximum marginal cost of medical services provided to one patient, according to the Government's resolution, cannot exceed 14,984 hryvnias. The patient can use the service once during the year. The service is absolutely free for the patient.

The service can be received by:

• participants in hostilities

• persons with disabilities due to war

• military

In order to receive a dental prosthesis service, you need to contact a medical institution that has signed a contract with the NHSU. It is also necessary to send a referral from a dentist and a statement in an arbitrary form (about receiving the service under the pilot project for the first time) with the provision of copies of documents with their original presentation:

• passport of a citizen of Ukraine;

• tax payer's registration card

• ID card (participant in hostilities / persons with disabilities as a result of war / ID card of a participant in the war and/or military card of private, non-commissioned officers and senior officers)

Note that military personnel who are not on leave must also receive a referral from the commander of the military unit. And then contact a doctor who will provide a referral for dental prosthetics services.
