The heating season in Mykolaiv residents’ homes ends on 24 March: hospitals and nurseries will remain heated

The heating season in residential buildings in Mykolaiv will end next week — on Tuesday, 24 March. However, heating will continue to be supplied to nurseries, hospitals, maternity wards and outpatient clinics for the time being.

The relevant draft decision has been published on the Mykolaiv City Council website, reports NikVesti. The City Council’s Executive Committee is due to approve it today, 18 March.

«Due to the rise in the average daily outdoor temperature over a three-day period, which exceeds +8 °C, the City Council’s Executive Committee has decided to end the heating season from 24 March 2026 at all facilities, except for pre-school education establishments, hospitals, maternity hospitals and outpatient clinics,» the executive committee’s decision states.

Mykolaiv residents complained about the lack of heating in a block on Soborna Street: what is known

In early February, residents of a high-rise block at 9 Soborna Street in Mykolaiv complained about the lack of heating due to prolonged power cuts in the building. According to them, despite this, they are receiving bills as if for a full service.

According to one of the residents, the building has no central gas supply and runs on electricity, so during prolonged power cuts the heating system does not function properly and the rooms do not have time to warm up.

Subsequently, the residents of the high-rise block filed formal complaints with the district heating plant regarding the lack of heating during power cuts and demanded a recalculation of their bills.

In particular, the residents demanded compensation for services not provided. At the time, Mykolaiv’s First Deputy Mayor, Vitalii Lukov, stated that it was impossible to waive heating charges for the entire building; recalculations must be carried out on an individual basis.

It later emerged that, despite the power cuts, residents of the building now have heating.

It should be added that in Mykolaiv, during the power cuts, heating problems were reported in around 25 of the 1,324 buildings managed by the regional heating and power company.
