Twenty Ukrainian companies have already joined the initiative to support independent regional media outlets operating in frontline cities. Among the editorial offices for which funds are being raised is the Mykolaiv-based online media outletNikVesti.

This was announced by editor-in-chief Sevhil Musaeva on Facebook.

This is part of the Critical Infrastructure project launched by Ukrainska Pravda together with the energy company DTEK and the Ukrainian brand Damirli. The aim of the initiative is to support independent regional editorial offices that continue to work during the war.

As part of the campaign, a charity collection of merchandise was created — hoodies and T-shirts with the inscription «Critical Infrastructure». The proceeds from their sale will go towards supporting regional media.

According to Sevgil Musayeva, more than 1,000 hoodies were sold in the first 10 days of the campaign alone.

«When we launched the campaign, I didn't fully understand how Ukrainian businesses would react to it. But what has happened in these 10 days is very inspiring. It means that there are many people and companies in Ukraine who consider supporting independent journalism to be important,» she said.

Twenty Ukrainian companies have already joined the initiative: Darnitsa, Ukrtelecom, PrivatBank, Vodafone Ukraine, Karpatskaya Dzherelna, Oschadbank, TERWIN, Biosphere Corporation, ELAN, Goloborodko dental clinic, NikiEnergy, OTP Bank, BGV Group Management, Parallel, ATB-Market, Misso, Raiffeisen Bank Aval, Gasanova, Totem consulting, and UKRTAC.

The funds raised will be transferred to five regional media outlets. In addition to NikVesti, these are Kordon.Media (Sumy), Gvara (Kharkiv), Dnipro.Media (Dnipro) and MOST (Kherson).

According to Sevhil Musayeva, this support is of great importance to editorial offices working in difficult conditions.

«I have been communicating a lot with our regional colleagues in recent days, and this support is of great importance to them. Very often, they feel that no one notices or appreciates their work. This campaign has proven that this is not the case. I think it will inspire them to work even harder for their communities,» she wrote.
