In 2025, the Mykolaiv region saw an increase in the level of criminal offences, but it remains lower than the national average.
This was announced during a session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council by the head of the regional prosecutor's office, Ihor Domushchei, reporting on the results of the prosecutor's office's work over the past year.
According to him, the crime rate in the region rose from 126.8 to 141 per 10,000 population. At the same time, this figure is lower than the average for Ukraine, where it stands at 147.7.

At the same time, the number of recorded crimes (excluding those closed on rehabilitative grounds) increased from 13,832 to 15,372. The largest increase was recorded among particularly serious crimes — by 15.4%, serious crimes — by 16.2%, and non-serious crimes — by 17.7%.
The report paid particular attention to war crimes. The number of criminal offences against peace, human security and international law increased by 30.8% — from 370 to 484. This is primarily due to an increase in the number of war crimes under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: their number rose from 292 to 441.
Positive dynamics were recorded in relation to crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security, which decreased by 8.1%. In particular, there was a reduction in the number of acts of sabotage, attacks on the territorial integrity of the state, and cases of aiding an aggressor state. At the same time, the number of cases of treason increased by 22.2%, and cases of obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations increased by 50%.
During the year, 19 organised criminal groups were neutralised in the region, which is the same as last year. Their members committed 600 criminal offences, which is almost twice as many as last year.
Among the crimes uncovered were embezzlement of budget funds, including those allocated for the restoration of infrastructure after Russian shelling, illegal logging, drug and arms trafficking, human trafficking, bribery, and environmental crimes.
These criminal proceedings have established damages amounting to 19.6 million hryvnias. Property with a total value of 19.7 million hryvnias has been seized, and civil claims for 13.6 million hryvnias have been filed.
Earlier it was reported that in the first five months of 2025, 50 crimes committed by children were recorded in the Mykolaiv region, which is 16.7% less than in the same period in 2024. At that time, 60 such offences were registered.
