Odesa region has become one of the key targets of Russian shelling. The enemy is hitting the logistics and energy sectors.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba during a conversation with journalists, according to «24 Channel».
According to him, Russian troops are attacking not only ports, but also the entire infrastructure that provides logistics for the region. This includes, in particular, the railway and energy facilities.
«We see systemic attacks on logistics and energy. These are deliberate attacks on the economic and energy potential of the region», said Oleksii Kuleba.
At the same time, he assured that despite the constant shelling, Ukraine's export activities do not stop. Currently, the «grain corridor» continues to operate, although the risks of further intensification of attacks remain high.
«There are no threats to exports today, but there are serious risks of further escalation of shelling», the official said.
According to Oleksii Kuleba, the government is constantly coordinating with the military to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure.
The Vice Prime Minister also explained that the intensification of attacks in the south has an economic purpose — to undermine Ukraine's revenues.
«Odesa region makes a significant contribution to the country's economy. Russia is trying to disrupt the work of the grain corridor and hit the budget», he concluded.
Earlier it was reported that traffic across the bridge in Maiaky was partially restored in Odesa region after the Russian attack.
As reported earlier, traffic across the bridge on the M-15 «Odesa-Reni» highway in the village of Maiaky was blocked due to damage caused by shelling. As a result, freight traffic is being redirected through other checkpoints with Moldova.
During the night and day of 19 December, the Russian army massively attacked the bridge in Maiaky, using 15 kamikaze drones and a ballistic missile.
Due to the suspension of traffic on the «Odesa-Reni highway», the State Customs Service advised citizens and carriers to use alternative checkpoints on the border with Moldova.
In addition, starting 20 December, «Ukrzaliznytsia» has assigned an additional group of wagons to Chisinau from Odesa and Kyiv.
