Kherson is 97% ready for the heating season, with the most difficult situation in the Korabel neighbourhood due to constant Russian shelling.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Regional State Administration, said this during a telethon, according to NikVesti.

According to him, district heating is available only in Kherson. The heating and social infrastructure is 100% ready, and the housing stock is about 88% ready.

«Today, the city is 97% ready for the heating season, with the heating and social infrastructure 100% ready and the housing stock about 88%. To ensure the stable operation of the boiler houses, four cogeneration units were installed to help provide heat even in the event of a power outage. The most difficult situation is in the Korabel neighbourhood, where the gas pipeline has been damaged, so it is impossible to start district heating there. The damage is extensive and we need heavy equipment to repair it,» said Oleksandr Prokudin .

He also stressed that the situation with energy supply is complicated by constant shelling by the Russian Federation.

As for the rural areas of the region, the regional authorities, together with international partners, are working to provide residents with fuel or financial assistance. This year, about 30,000 families need support, of which 10,000 have already received solid fuel or vouchers.

«Heating stations have become a place to stay for many people. We are setting up locations where people can keep warm, recharge their phones and contact their families. There are 158 warming centres in the region, with 31 more in reserve. Each of them has water, electricity, internet, first aid kits and places to rest. In addition, 341 heating points have been set up in shelters designed for 75,000 people,» said the head of the Regional Military Administration.

Earlier it was reported that the heating season of 2025-2026 has started in Kherson. Since 1 October, residents with individual heating have been supplied with heat.
