The twin city of Mykolaiv, Hannover in Germany, supports the creation of a new municipal company in Mykolaiv, «Svii Dim». It will manage and lease municipal housing.

According to the city's website, on 13 October, a cooperation agreement was signed in Hanover between the German company hanova and the Mykolaiv-based company «Svii Dim». This agreement cements the partnership and confirms further support for Mykolaiv during the city's reconstruction.

«Svii Dim» is a newly established company that is to follow the example of hanova. In Hanover, this company has been managing municipal housing for many years. In Mykolaiv, the company started working in September and is gradually creating its own housing management system.

From 13 to 17 October, the Mykolaiv delegation is in Hannover. Representatives of the city are participating in meetings to discuss the development of housing projects and exchange experience with German colleagues.

Mayor of Hannover Belit Onai stressed that the city has been actively supporting Mykolaiv for three years.

«We share our knowledge and experience to help our partners in Mykolaiv rebuild their city. The development of municipal structures is the basis for a safe home and social cohesion, especially in times of war», he said.

Carsten Klaus, CEO of hanova, noted that the company will help Mykolaiv create an effective municipal housing management system.

The cooperation between hanova and «Svii Dim» — is part of a partnership between Hannover and Mykolaiv that has been going on since 2022. During this time, the German side has provided the Ukrainian city with assistance in infrastructure repairs, advice and technical support.

It should be recalled that the city of Hanover became a twin city of Mykolaiv in 2022. Since then, German partners have been providing regular support, including the supply of specialised equipment, generators, tools, medicines, and computer equipment for educational institutions and utilities.

In May 2024, the city of Hanover, which is the administrative centre of the German federal state of Lower Saxony, donated equipment to Mykolaiv to support the operation of educational institutions and utilities. Mykolaiv also received two Volkswagen passenger cars from the German city.
