Preparations for the heating season are underway in Kherson. As of today, the readiness of boiler houses is over 60%, and that of heating stations is over 86%.

This was announced by the head of the city military administration Yaroslav Shanko after a meeting of the headquarters.

According to him, the community is actively preparing for winter despite the daily shelling by Russia. More than 186 (92%) of the 203 kilometres of heating networks are already in working order.

«We know that the enemy is insidious and is trying to leave Kherson residents without heat this winter. However, we have developed response plans and algorithms for dealing with various emergencies. We are making every effort to ensure that the Kherson community can confidently start the heating season in difficult conditions,» said Yaroslav Shanko.

Currently, 505 houses out of 910 that are heated centrally have preparedness certificates. In addition, schools and vocational institutions are almost 70% ready, kindergartens are 100% ready, and hospitals are over 86% ready. The resilience centres are also being equipped for the winter — 10 out of 17 are currently ready.

According to him, work has been suspended in the city's coastal areas due to the danger. The most challenging situation remains in the Korabel neighbourhood, where damaged critical infrastructure prevents preparatory work.

«Preparations for the heating season have been suspended in the coastal areas of the city due to security concerns. The situation is difficult in the Korabel neighbourhood, where it is impossible to carry out work due to damage to critical infrastructure,» said the head of the CMA.

Earlier it was reported that Mykolaiv region is 93% ready for the new heating season. However, the main challenge remains the completion of the project for modular boiler houses.
