Residents of a high-rise building in Mykolaiv have been without water for more than six months: they cannot find the owner of the apartment with the leak

In Mykolaiv, residents of the sixth entrance of a building at 325/1 Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue have been living without water supply for more than eight months. The reason for this is a break in the pipes of one of the apartments, to which the utility company has no access because they cannot find the owner.

On the Facebook page of the Contact Centre at Mykolaiv City Council, resident Mariana Opryshko said that the problem arose on 28 December 2024. Since then, the riser in the entrance has been disconnected, and dozens of people, including elderly residents, have been forced to carry water by hand, both for drinking and for household needs.

In the comments, the author of the post noted that after the complaint, representatives of the service company came to check for leaks, but were unable to enter another apartment.

«The fitters came, turned on the water through the riser, checked for leaks in each apartment. But there were no owners in one of the apartments, except for the one that was inaccessible. That was the end of it», the resident said.

According to the people, they have repeatedly appealed to the housing office, but there have been no results so far.

«The housing office reported that they had filed a complaint with the police, but the police do not care about the problems of ordinary citizens. It's a shame that in such a difficult time there is complete lack of power in the city», the woman complains.

Conflict between management companies in Mykolaiv

In early May 2025, in Mykolaiv, a man in a wheelchair could not get to his apartment on the 6th floor for several hours due to a sudden lift shutdown. Later it became known that the reason was a dispute between two management companies.

The editorial team found out that the residents of this building have been suffering for a long time because of the confrontation between two management companies — «Pivden» and «City for People». According to the residents, one company after another comes «to service», changing the locks on the panels, switching the lift on and off. Because of this confusion, people don't know who to pay, and debts are accumulating.

The city council's housing and communal services department confirmed that the lift was stopped illegally and «Pivdenna» received an order to resume its operation.

In addition, due to the confrontation between the two management companies and lawsuits, the residents of the apartment building had their bank accounts blocked.

After that, the residents were offered to hold new elections at a general meeting.
