On 24 August, Independence Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a video address to the nation.
The President emphasised that Ukraine is building a future that will have the strength and power to live in security and peace. According to him, Ukrainians will be able to celebrate Independence Day on their land, under their flag, in peace and with confidence in the future.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian people pay tribute to all those who defend the country in the war, who have withstood and won.
«We are building a Ukraine that will have sufficient strength and power to live in security and peace. We want our children and grandchildren to celebrate Independence Day on this square, on the square of our independence, under our flags, on our land. In peace. In peace. With confidence in the future. With respect. And with gratitude to all those who defended Ukraine in this war for independence, who stood up, who succeeded, who won. This is a goal worth living for. This is what we stand for. Happy holiday, great people of a great country!», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump also congratulated Ukrainians on the 34th anniversary of independence. He sent a letter of congratulations to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The American president stressed that «the people of Ukraine have an unbreakable spirit, and the country's courage inspires many».
