The «Naftogaz» group has signed the first agreement to purchase gas from Azerbaijan, which will be supplied via Bulgaria and Romania.
This was reported by the press service of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
For the first time, an agreement was signed with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, under which Azerbaijani gas will be supplied via the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline — from Bulgaria through Romania to the Ukrainian border.
«This is a small but strategically important step that paves the way for long-term cooperation. It is also another example of diversifying supply sources and strengthening Ukraine's energy security», said Serhii Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine has started exporting its own biomethane to Europe by filing a relevant declaration through the energy customs of the State Customs Service.
