As of 11 July, Ukrainian farmers have already harvested more than 2.6 million tonnes of new crop grain and pulses. The harvest is underway in 18 regions of the country.
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Mykolaiv region is among the top three. Almost 262,000 hectares of fields have been threshed here, and the gross grain harvest totalled 651,500 tonnes.
Yields in other regions are also high. For example, Odesa region harvested more than one million tonnes of grain, and Dnipro region — more than 280 thousand tonnes.
Most of all, we harvested more than 1.2 million tonnes of wheat, more than 1.1 million tonnes of barley and 225 thousand tonnes of peas. The total area under harvest is over 919 thousand hectares.
In addition to grain, farmers in nine regions have started harvesting rapeseed. They have already harvested more than 290 thousand tonnes of rapeseed on an area of almost 179 thousand hectares.
Despite fertile soils, farmland in Mykolaiv region remains one of the cheapest in Ukraine. In June, the price per hectare was almost 35 thousand hryvnias, while in the western regions it reached over 130 thousand hryvnias.
