Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has commented on US President Donald Trump's statement calling Vladimir Putin «absolutely crazy» over the massive air attacks on Ukraine.
In a commentary to the Russian news agency «RIA Novosti», Peskov said that the negotiation process is accompanied by «emotional stress» and «emotional reactions». According to him, Putin allegedly makes decisions to «ensure the security of» Russia.
Peskov also complained that Ukraine had allegedly threatened foreign guests planning to visit Moscow on 9 May, which, he said, forced Russia to take action.
The Kremlin's reaction came after Donald Trump criticised Putin's actions, accusing him of unwarranted violence and a desire to completely take over Ukraine, which, in his opinion, could lead to the collapse of Russia itself.
Earlier, during a telephone conversation with European leaders, Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin had no intention of stopping the war in Ukraine, as he believed that Russia was winning.
Also, following Russia's massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine this weekend, US Republican Congressman Don Bacon made a strong statement. He rejected the possibility of effective peace talks with the Kremlin. He stressed that diplomatic efforts have no influence on Russian President Vladimir Putin. In his opinion, Moscow is continuing the war to conquer Ukraine and will not stop its aggression until it meets real resistance.
