Residents of the damaged house in Mykolaiv, which was hit by a drone strike on 25 May, spoke about their experience of the night shelling.

This is stated in a report by correspondents of NikVesti.

«We sat down in the corridor, everything was shaking, and we heard something flying. The first explosion was somewhere far away. And the second one was right above us,» said Liudmyla Kondrativna.

Dmytro, a resident of the building, said that upon arrival he heard the screams of his neighbour, who was trapped under the rubble of the building — a concrete slab had crushed his leg.

«The first Shahed drone hit to the right, and the second one fell on our entrance. Immediately there was dust, our door was smashed. We ran out into the stairwell and heard screams on the third floor. There was a guy screaming that his leg was crushed. He was so crushed by a part of the slab that he couldn't pull it off on his own. The slabs just folded over him, and he was lucky that he probably went out into the corridor. If he had been in the hall or in the bedroom, it would have cut him in half. He also had glass in his legs and cuts,» says Dmytro.

Another resident of the building, Nataliia, said she could not contain her emotions when she went outside after arriving and realised what had happened. She said she burst into tears because the shelling had killed residents she knew.

«We went to the far room and that saved us. If we had been on this side, it would have just cut us down. Then this arrival happened and I did not understand at first that it was our house that was destroyed. And then I saw the fire, the neighbours started shouting that the doors were burning, and I started putting them out. When the roof was extinguished, the firefighters released us and only then did we come out. I went out to see what had happened to my car. When I saw everything, I frankly burst into tears. Because people died there, and I knew those people,» Nataliia said.

Strike on Mykolaiv on 25 May

On Saturday night, 25 May, the Russian army launched dozens of drones at Mykolaiv. The first shelling in the city was heard around 00:50. City officials reported that the city was under attack by kamikaze drones.

A five-storey building in Zavodskyi district of Mykolaiv was hit. People were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers managed to unblock the body of one of the residents at 6am — the victim was a 77-year-old man. In addition, 5 other people were injured, including a teenager. Mykolaiv rescuers managed to pull a girl from the rubble. Later, the rescuers removed the body of the deceased woman from the rubble.

As of the morning of 26 May, two people were killed and six others were injured in a Russian kamikaze drone attack on Mykolaiv on the night of 25 May.

Authorities also reported that the nighttime attack on Mykolaiv damaged infrastructure, office buildings and private homes. Power lines were damaged in different parts of the city. Two floors of an apartment building were destroyed, and the debris hit a nearby multi-storey building.

In addition, one of the kindergartens was damaged by a Russian drone strike. Windows were smashed and the roof was damaged.

Law enforcers have already opened a criminal investigation into the nighttime shelling of Mykolaiv on the grounds of war crimes (Article 438(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, noted that the 25 May attack on Mykolaiv was the most massive in recent years.
