Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on international observers not to be fooled by claims of Russia's alleged victory in the war.

He wrote about this in a post on the X platform.

Andrii Sybiha stressed that although the situation at the front remains difficult and the enemy forces are superior, Russia has not achieved strategic success. «The assumption that Russia is winning is wrong», he stressed, pointing to the tendency of underestimating Ukraine among foreign analysts.

«The assumption that Russia is winning the war is wrong. It is based on a widespread tendency among foreign analysts to underestimate Ukraine and overestimate Russia. And this pattern has been proven wrong many times, but people continue to fall into the same trap,» the Foreign Minister said.

According to him, Russia's winter offensive efforts failed, caused heavy losses and forced Moscow to seek military assistance from the DPRK. Meanwhile, Ukraine has stabilised the frontline and even managed to recapture certain territories, in particular near Pokrovske.

Andrii Sybiha reminded that the Kremlin has failed to achieve its goals even three years after the start of the full-scale invasion: Russia has not captured a single new regional centre, and Kherson, the only major achievement, was recaptured in 2022.

The minister also drew attention to Ukraine's significant progress in military production: today, the country covers about 40% of its defence needs and produces 95% of the drones that hit most targets at the front.

In March 2025 alone, Ukrainian drones hit about 77,000 Russian targets, which is 10% more than in February.

«Ukraine wants peace like no other country. We never wanted this war. But to end it, we need to put real pressure on Russia and significantly strengthen Ukraine,» summed up Andrii Sybiha.

As a reminder, on 27 April, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the next week would be crucial in negotiations to achieve peace in Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine and Russia are now the closest to reaching a deal in the last three years.
