Mykolaiv is preparing to launch a site for the temporary storage of demolition waste. It will be put into test operation on 1 May for 45 days.

The decision was made on 23 April at a meeting of the executive committee of the city council, according to NikVesti.

The site will operate on the territory that is in constant use of the municipal enterprise «ELU Avtodorig». Waste will be collected, sorted, processed and temporarily stored here, as well as secondary raw materials obtained from them.

The project is being implemented as part of the second phase of the Emergency Recovery Programme, which is supported by the Japanese government through the JICA agency. The solution also meets the requirements of Government Resolution №1073 on the management of waste generated as a result of military operations.

«ME «ELU Avtodorig» should ensure that all stages of the site's work are recorded, as well as document the associated costs — this is necessary for possible further funding or compensation», stated in the documentation.

The Department of Housing and Communal Services, for its part, will organise the delivery of waste and the financing of the process. Based on the results of the test period, an official procedure for the site's operation will be developed and submitted for approval.
