This year, 48 beaches may open in Odesa region: preparations for the season are underway

Preparations for the beach season have started in Odesa region. As reported during a meeting of the specialised commission, 48 beach areas are ready to open this year.

This was discussed during a meeting of the Commission on Emergency Situations and Elimination of Their Consequences, Ecology, NikVesti.

For the beach to be officially opened for holidaymakers, the following conditions must be met

• a diving survey of the coastal bottom,

• availability of shelters on the territory,

• the relevant agreements must be signed.

«At present, there is an order from the head of the regional military administration and an order from the head of the district administration, so the preparatory season for recreation has begun. At present, 48 beach areas are ready to open this season,» said a representative of the city council.

Divers are currently working on the coast, in particular, detecting fuel oil stains that have spread across the Black Sea after the Russian tanker accidents. As for the nets along the sea, which were installed last year to protect against mines, they will not be pulled this season. As explained by the commission, this was deemed inappropriate, as the nets only hinder traffic.

As you know, in 2024, the beach season in Odesa region opened on 8 June. There were 20 locations available for swimming. On 17 March 2025, preparations for the swimming season began in Odesa region. Utilities and businesses have a month and a half to take the necessary measures.
