Trump says he does not want to harm Ukrainians amid reports of refugee deportations

US President Donald Trump has commented on Reuters' information about Washington's alleged plans to deprive 240,000 Ukrainian refugees of temporary legal status, which could lead to their deportation.

He said this at a briefing at the White House.

Donald Trump stressed that a decision on this issue has not yet been made, and it will take into account the interests of Ukrainians.

As a reminder, Reuters, citing a senior Trump official and three other unnamed sources, reported that the decision is part of the Trump administration's broader efforts to revoke the legal status of more than 1.8 million migrants who were allowed to enter the United States under temporary humanitarian programmes launched under President Joe Biden's administration.

In addition, the threat of a prolonged war in Ukraine without US military support is forcing EU politicians to consider the emergence of a new wave of huge numbers of refugees.
