Kherson museum workers have identified another painting stolen by the Russians during the occupation. The painting by Mykhailo Andriienko-Nechytailo «Landscape of Paris» was spotted in photos from Crimea.

This was reported by the Kherson Art Museum named after Oleksii Shovkunenko.

It is indicated that the photo from the Central Museum of Taurida in Simferopol contains a painting by Mykhailo Andriienko-Nechytailo.

The post notes that Mykhailo Andriienko spent his youth in Kherson. His family belonged to the Ukrainian intelligentsia, and the atmosphere of art surrounded the future artist from childhood. He always drew and painted views of Kherson.

«Andriienko's works reflect almost all artistic trends of the 20th century. At the beginning of 1915-1916, he exhibited cubist-constructivist works. In 1928, he made a sketch of constructivist scenography and surrealist still lifes. In 1930-1950, the artist painted views of Paris in a naturalistic style. In the late 1950s and later, he used new forms of abstraction, not forgetting to refer to the old forms of the early years», the message says.

The artist's works were kept in the collection of the famous French art connoisseur and collector Rene Guerra. In 1994, when Guerra visited Ukraine, in particular Kherson, he presented the museum with pencil drawings and a painting by Andriienko-Nechytailo «Landscape of Paris».

Let us recall that as of October, the Kherson Art Museum had already identified 128 paintings stolen from them by the Russians.
