The United Kingdom has announced new sanctions against 20 tankers that were illegally transporting Russian oil.

This is stated in a statement from the British government.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer believes that these sanctions will increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin's economy.

The sanctions list included the tankers Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies, and Mianzimu, each of which transported more than four million barrels of Russian oil in 2024.

In addition, 2Rivers DMCC and 2Rivers PTE LTD, key companies in the trade of Russian oil, were also sanctioned.

The UK has currently imposed sanctions on over 100 ships used to transport Russian energy, including 93 oil tankers.

The UK is also providing emergency support to Ukraine in the amount of 35 million pounds sterling. The funds will be used to restore the country's energy network and provide humanitarian assistance to the population.

It was previously reported that despite official restrictions and bans, millions of tons of Russian oil continue to be transported to the European Union. Journalist Mykhailo Tkach of the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper published an investigation and revealed the Russian shadow fleet that delivers oil to various countries.
