The bodies of 502 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine

The bodies of 502 fallen defenders were returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Among the returned:

  • 397 dead from the Donetsk direction;
  • 24 from the Luhansk direction;
  • 64 from the Zaporizhzhia direction;
  • 17 dead were returned from morgues in Russia.

The return of the bodies of soldiers was handled by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the SSU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the VRU for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service and other structures of the Security Sector and defense of Ukraine.

We will remind that on November 8, Ukraine returned the bodies of 563 fallen defenders. Law enforcement officers and forensic experts will identify the dead. As reported,over 2,800 bodies and body fragments of military personnel have been identified in Ukraine so far.
