Threatened with rape: the military of the Russian Federation will be tried for torturing residents during the occupation of Snihurivka

A Russian soldier will be tried for imprisoning, beating, threatening to rape and humiliating local residents of the former temporarily occupied Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region.

As reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the law enforcement officers sent an indictment to the court against the 34-year-old commander of the 2nd reconnaissance platoon of the 1st reconnaissance company of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Cossack Brigade of the Russian Federation for violation of the laws and customs of war, committed by a prior conspiracy by the group persons (Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

A Russian soldier committed crimes in June, September and October 2022 in the villages of the Bashtanka district, which were temporarily occupied at the time, the Mykolaiv Oblast Police reported.

According to the investigation, he imprisoned four local residents, whom he tortured and beat. He threatened one of the victims with rape in order to obtain information about former participants of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) and the facts of their interaction with the Armed Forces. The Russian military faces up to 12 years in prison.
