A five-year record number of people were reported as wanted in Ukraine in 2023

Last year, 7,422 persons were wanted in Ukraine. This is a record number for the last five years and is 40% more than in 2021.

This is reported by Opendatabot with reference to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

So, in 2019, 4 thousand 177 people were wanted, in 2020 — 4 thousand 799, in 2021 — 5 thousand 269, in 2022 — 5 thousand 915, in 2023 — 7 thousand 422.

Most often, in 2023, they were wanted for collaboration — 21.7%. The top reasons for which a person can be wanted include theft — 18.2%, treason — 5.3%, fraud — 4.8%, drug production and storage — 4.5%, drug sale — 3, 1%, forgery of documents — 2.8%, robbery — 2.7%, violation of traffic rules — 2.4%.

Almost half of the persons from the register (44%) were wanted in the frontline regions, mostly in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.

Almost half of the wanted persons are hiding from pre-trial investigation bodies — 3,299 people, or 44%. In second place are those who are hiding from the court — 2 thousand 126 people.

79% of wanted people are men, women make up 21% of the total in 2023.

Most of the wanted people are between 25 and 45 years old. The oldest wanted person is 87 years old, and the youngest is 6 years old.

A total of 55,992 people are wanted by the end of January 2024, according to Opendatabot.

It will be recalled that the director general of the International Commission on Missing Persons, Catherine Bomberger, said that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine , 30,000 civilians have gone missing.
