The Rector of Admiral Makarov National Shipbuilding University, Yevhen Trushliakov, expressed his displeasure with the proposed name «UKRoP» for the new educational institution, which will unite the university headed by him and Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi National University.

Commenting on this initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on Facebook, Yevhen Trushliakov said that the appropriate name was never discussed in the university team.

The rector emphasized that this decision does not reflect the opinion and position of students and teachers of the National Shipbuilding University.

«The news on the MESU website is not an official release of the CMU, but the personal point of view of the ministry's press service or one of its officials. Such a name was not even discussed. The NKI-NUKians will never agree with such a thing,» wrote Yevhen Trushliakov.

Language ombudsman Taras Kremin also expressed his disagreement with the use of the name «UKRoP».

«The University of Shipbuilding and Development of the South of Ukraine will be created in my native Mykolaiv. It is abbreviated as UKROP, but such a frivolous name and, accordingly, there will definitely not be an abbreviation,» wrote Taras Kremin.

We will remind you that earlier the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, expressed the opinion that one of the universities that suffered from Russian shelling should be closed or reorganized and attached to a more effective one.

At that time, Mykolaiv Sukhomlynskyi University reacted to the statement of the head of Mykolaiv RMA. Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Professor Svitlana Yakymenko expressed the opinion that the educational institution should not be closed. University students also joined the appeal, calling to save the educational institution and start work on the demolition of the rubble of the destroyed part of the university.
