On the eve of the new year, deputies will gather in Pervomaisk for an extraordinary session to resolve the issue of renaming the city.

The order of the mayor Oleh Demchenko on convening the session on December 29 at 3:00 p.m. was published on the community's official website.

We remind that at the session on December 21, the deputies did not have enough votes to change the name to Olviopol. Also, the deputies could not vote to keep the old name.

According to the voting results, six leader names were determined, which were presented to the public for discussion in social networks:

  • Bohoslavsk,
  • Olviopol,
  • Boghopol,
  • Holta,
  • Olviia,
  • Orlyk.

As of December 15, taking into account the results obtained from the official pages of the executive committee of the Pervomaisk city council: on the website, in the Facebook and Telegram networks, a total of 2,478 people voted. And the largest number of votes, namely 915, was given by the residents of the community for Olviopol.

We will remind that the Mykolaiv Oblast is recommended to revise the names of the cities of Pervomaisk, Yuzhnoukrainian and 57 villages due to non-compliance with the standards of the state language.

After that, public discussions about renaming the city started in Pervomaisk. The townspeople were asked to choose a name from five proposed options: Olviopol, Bohopol and Holta, Olviia or Pershotravensk. The survey lasts until September 26. Olviopol received the most votes so far.
