In Mykolaiv Oblast, tourism and culture lost about $333 million due to the war

The total indirect losses of the spheres of culture, tourism and sports of the Mykolaiv region amounted to about 333 million dollars.

This is evidenced by the data of the report of the «Russia will pay» project of the KSE Institute as of June 2023, writes NikVestі.

In Ukraine, total losses amount to 10.8 billion dollars, of which 6.4 billion dollars — culture and sports, another 4.4 billion dollars — tourism.

«Tourism in Ukraine is currently losing a very significant amount of finances. First of all, this is due to a decrease in the total number of tourists. «Ukraine is currently completely without foreign tourists, who numbered about 4 million people in 2020, almost 90 thousand of them used the services of Ukrainian travel agencies,» the report says.

The situation is quite similar with domestic tourism, KSE added. Due to active hostilities, threats of rocket attacks, and mined tourist zones, 13 out of 24 oblasts remained without tourism either completely (100% of tourism enterprises stopped their work) or partially (50% of tourism enterprises stopped their work).

We will remind, as of the end of 2023, the amount of damage caused to the infrastructure of Mykolaiv reached almost 900 million euros, according to the data of the report of the project «Russia will pay» KSE Institute.

It was also reported that in the Mykolaiv Oblast due to military operations in the first half of 2023, the tourist tax fell by 72%.
