In the Mykolaiv Oblast, the SARS incidence rate is below the epidemic threshold by 44%, but the situation may worsen, says health doctor

In the Mykolaiv region, the incidence rate of acute respiratory viral infections remains 44% below the epidemic threshold. However, the situation may worsen.

Volodymyr Klochko, general director of the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, told about this during the briefing.

As of November, the incidence rate of acute respiratory viral infections in Ukraine is 17.9% below the epidemic threshold, in the Mykolayiv region the rate is 44% lower. Over the past week, 3,012 cases of acute respiratory viral infections have been identified, of which 37 are Covid-19 cases.

— The south of Ukraine has peculiarities in the off-season. And the Mykolaiv region has these spikes in SARS even in March, so we expect the situation to worsen. It will be mandatory, but later than in Ukraine as a whole, said Volodymyr Klochko.

In order to avoid a worsening of the situation, the chief sanitary doctor of the Mykolaiv region calls on the population to get vaccinated, stressing that there are enough drugs. If a person does get sick, he emphasizes that antibiotics should only be prescribed by a specialist.

— Do not engage in self-medication. I also want to bring you back to banal things like wearing a mask, especially in crowded places. Ensure the peace of your loved ones, if you feel that you are sick, go to the doctor, only he determines the diagnosis. Again, it is necessary to carry out tests for covid, because SARS now includes covid, and the symptoms are the same, noted the health doctor.

So far, 1,816 people have been vaccinated against influenza in the Mykolaiv region, the vast majority of this number are medical workers who belong to the epidemic risk group and work directly with patients. Only 281 people were vaccinated voluntarily, another 132 vaccinations were given to children aged six months to 5 years.

— For vaccination against the flu, you can buy a tested and certified vaccine at a pharmacy, but you need to consult a doctor, know what is recommended to buy within two hours in accordance with the cold chain, that is, bring it to the doctor in the cold, and the vaccination will be done, he added.

For those who cannot visit a medical facility, there are mobile teams that, upon request, travel and administer vaccinations.

We will remind, last year in Mykolaiv more than 3.5 thousand citizens were vaccinated against the flu. This year, the issue of vaccination is already relevant, because with the arrival of cold weather, an increase in the incidence of influenza is expected.
