Two advisers to former US President Donald Trump presented him with a plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

According to Reuters, the plan was developed by Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz, who served as Trump's National Security Council chiefs of staff during his presidency in 2017-2021.

He predicts that if elected US president, Trump can stop the supply of military aid to Ukraine if it refuses peace talks, instead Moscow will be warned that any refusal to negotiate will lead to increased support for Kyiv. In the event of peace talks, the plan calls for a ceasefire based on existing contact lines.

The main elements of the plan were laid out in a publicly available research paper released by the America First Policy Institute, a Trump-friendly think tank where Kellogg and Fleitz hold leadership positions, the newspaper said.

Keith Kellogg said that if Donald Trump wins the election, it will be extremely important to quickly bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table.

«We are telling the Ukrainians: You must sit down at the negotiating table, and if you don't sit down at the negotiating table, the support from the United States will stop. And we say to Putin: He must sit at the negotiating table, and if you do not sit at the table, then we will give the Ukrainians everything they need to kill you on the battlefield,» he said.

According to their proposal, Moscow could also be forced to sit down at the negotiating table, postponing for a long time the promise of Ukraine's membership in NATO.

Fred Fleitz said that Ukraine does not need to formally cede territory to Russia according to their plan. However, according to him, Ukraine is unlikely to be able to regain control over its entire territory in the near future.

According to Kellogg and Fleitz, in order to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine, additional security guarantees for Ukraine are needed. Flejts added that «arming Ukraine to the teeth» is likely to be a key element of this.

He said that Donald Trump got acquainted with their strategy and reacted positively to it.

«I'm not saying he agreed with her or agreed with every word, but we were glad to get the feedback,» said Fred Fleitz.

However, Trump's spokesman Stephen Chung said that only statements made by the former president himself or authorized members of his campaign should be considered official.

Earlier, The Washington Post, citing US officials, reported that since the security agreement between Ukraine and the US will not be ratified by Congress, any future president of the United States will be able to withdraw from it if he wishes. That is , Donald Trump or any other future president of the country can withdraw from the legally binding executive agreement.

It will be recalled that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, after meeting with US presidential candidate Donald Trump, said that if he wins, he «will not give a penny» to protect Ukraine from the Russian invasion.
