The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine expects to reach an agreement on debt restructuring in the coming weeks.

This is reported in the Ministry of Finance.

«I know that we are asking private lenders to make a significant effort on their part, but without restructuring, Ukraine will not be able to sufficiently finance our defense and start a program of recovery and reconstruction, which is a common goal for all our partners from both the public and private sectors. As we are approaching the end date of the payment deferral for Eurobonds, we need to encourage the owners of our Eurobonds to continue constructive negotiations,» said the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko.

The head of the Ministry of Finance says that their proposals should reflect «a more significant debt reduction» in accordance with the parameters of the IMF and the current macro-financial situation in Ukraine.

Serhii Marchenko added that Ukraine will continue productive negotiations with investors in order to settle all existing differences.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine asked private creditors to write off debts.
