The Secretary of Mykolaiv City Council, Dmytro Falko, said that 6 million hryvnias is needed to purchase a new voting system for deputies. Currently, voting takes place via Zoom, a video conferencing service.

This was discussed during a meeting of the city council session, which is taking place today, 30 October, according to NikVesti.

City council member Serhii Kantor expressed his opinion on the situation with the double voting of a colleague in the deputy corps. Recently, a city council member from the party «Servant of the People», Tetiana Dombrovska, published a document with the results of one of the sessions, where, according to her, two votes were cast on behalf of the deputy Yevhen Pavlovych. After that, the secretary of the city council said that an internal investigation would be conducted into the matter.

Kantor expressed hope that it was a technical error: «God forbid that it was so». However, the MP believes that such situations can be avoided if the voting system is updated to a more reliable one.

«What am I talking about? I am talking about the question raised by my colleague Dombrovska and the answer of our secretary. I think the Secretary is simplifying the situation and turning everything into an internal investigation.

I think that today the information space and information systems are at such a stage of development that there is no need to refute this situation, but rather to improve the software. Today, there are enough resources to fix it,» said Kantor.

In response, City Council Secretary Dmytro Falko said he would look into the matter. At the same time, he noted that such a system costs about 6 million hryvnias.

«Let's go with the technical means in this way. We will prepare for you what technical options are possible to improve our work, as well as an estimate of the cost. Then we will propose it to the parliamentary hall, and if you are willing, we will include the purchase of such measures in the budget for the 26th year.

I can tell you in advance that such a voting system has been planned in some other cities and this issue has been studied. It is about 6 million hryvnias. I think that today there are more useful ways to spend these funds for the country, for our Defence Forces and for society than to buy an additional voting system,» said Dmytro Falko.

Earlier, Tetiana Dombrovska, a city council member from the «Servant of the People» party, published the minutes of the session of 30 January, where the voting table for one of the decisions shows 28 votes «for», which is the minimum required quorum. However, in the list of deputies who supported the decision, the name of MP Yevhen Pavlovych is listed twice.
