Moscow has said it expects clear guarantees from the West that the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will have «a concrete result».
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
«We also need guarantees that the meeting of the presidents will bring a concrete result. We are ready for this result,» he said.
Sergey Lavrov claims that during the previous meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage, the Russian side allegedly agreed to a number of initiatives presented by US Special Representative Steve Witkoff during his visit to Moscow. However, the minister did not specify which initiatives he was talking about.
According to him, the Kremlin hopes that Donald Trump is interested in achieving a long-term peace, rather than «creating the preconditions for further arms supplies to Ukraine».
Earlier, Donald Trump announced that he had cancelled his planned meeting with Vladimir Putin in Budapest. He believes that the meeting will lead to nothing. «Every time we have a good conversation, it doesn't lead to anything», Donald Trump said.
