US President Donald Trump may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy next week in New York.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a conversation with journalists on 15 September, according to «Evropeiska pravda».

When asked about the Russian-Ukrainian war, Rubio stressed that «no world leader has done more to end it than Trump». In this context, he also mentioned a possible meeting between Trump and Zelensky.

«There have been many phone calls, several meetings with Zelensky, and probably another one in New York next week», he said.

Rubio also reiterated that Trump «inherited this three-year war from the Biden administration».

«He is doing everything he can to end it. We are working closely with our European partners on security guarantees, because they will be necessary for any negotiated settlement. And he will continue to make efforts for this», the Secretary of State added.

As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused Russian President Vladimir Putin's offer of a bilateral meeting in Moscow. Instead, he invited him to Kyiv.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was not opposed to meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but that the place of the talks should be Moscow.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded that the deadline had passed since Donald Trump gave Russia 14 days to confirm its readiness for talks at the level of leaders.

Prior to that, the White House stated that Donald Trump did not want to impose new sanctions on Russia, but was ready to do so if necessary.

At the same time, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal stressed the need for an early vote on the bill on new sanctions against Russia. In his opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin «does not deserve additional time».

It should be noted that almost 60% of Americans are not confident in Donald Trump's ability to make informed decisions regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine.
