Zelenskyy: we are working on preparing new formats of security guarantees

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the discussion of security guarantees for Ukraine continues. According to him, coordination at the level of leaders and preparation of agreement formats are underway.

He wrote about this on social media. The President noted that national security advisers who are in constant contact are already working on the specific content of the guarantees.

According to Reuters, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chaired a meeting of the «coalition of the willing» after talks in Washington.

A Polish government spokesperson confirmed that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would also join the meeting.

On 18 August, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the White House for talks with US President Donald Trump. European leaders also arrived in Washington.

Following the talks, Trump and Zelenskyy called the bilateral meeting «very good». Afterwards, the US president had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said he had begun preparations for a face-to-face meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian leaders.

This happened a few days after the talks between Trump and Putin in Alaska. The US president rated that meeting at «10 out of 10» and said that he would refrain from additional sanctions or other «serious consequences» for Russia, which he had previously promised.
