During his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, US President Donald Trump may put forward proposals that include economic concessions to Russia.
The Telegraph reports this with reference to its own sources.
According to the newspaper, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is analysing possible compromises that could speed up a ceasefire agreement. Among them is Russia's access to rare earth minerals in the occupied territories of Ukraine, where the two largest lithium deposits are located.
The lifting of sanctions on the export of parts and equipment for the repair of Russian aircraft affected by the restrictions is also being considered.
«The lifting of sanctions against Russian aviation could be beneficial for the US manufacturer Boeing. With a fleet of more than 700 aircraft dominated by Airbus and Boeing, Russian airlines could again turn to American suppliers for critical parts and maintenance», the media writes.
Another possible offer could be Russia's access to natural resources in the Bering Strait, which separates it from the US state of Alaska.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska on 15 August.
In addition, the White House is considering inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Alaska, where the meeting is to take place.
President Zelenskyy has also said that a trilateral meeting between the leaders of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia is planned. However, a specific date for the event has not yet been set. However, CBS News, citing its own sources, noted that the trilateral meeting could take place at the end of next week.
Donald Trump also assured European leaders that he would not raise the issue of Ukrainian territories during his meeting with Vladimir Putin on 15 August. According to him, he will insist on a ceasefire without any conditions.
