During a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia intends to respond to the SSU's special operation «Pavutyna».
Trump made the announcement on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
«We discussed Ukraine's attack on Russian planes at airfields, as well as other strikes on both sides. It was a good conversation, but it won't lead to immediate peace», Donald Trump wrote.
According to him, Vladimir Putin «has made it very clear» that Russia will respond to the recent strikes on its military facilities.
Donald Trump also noted that during his conversation with Putin, the issue of Iran - in particular, its potential nuclear weapons — was raised.
«I told Putin that Iran should not have nuclear weapons, and I think we agreed on that. Putin suggested that he would engage in talks with Iran and might be able to help speed up the resolution of this issue», Donald Trump wrote.
Trump also said that Tehran «is dragging its feet» with a decision on its nuclear programme, and the international community expects a clear answer in the near future.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready for a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin and offered Russia a temporary ceasefire before it.
Earlier, Oleksii Chepa, first deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said that a third round of talks with Ukraine was possible by the end of June, but on condition that Kyiv refrains from new attack s on Russian airfields.
Special operation «Pavutyna»
As a reminder, the special operation «Pavutyna», which resulted in the downing of 41 Russian strategic aircraft by the Security Service of Ukraine, had been in the works for over a year and a half.
Later, journalist Yurii Butusov disclosed the details of the SSU operation, noting that the agents had entered the territory of the Russian Federation.
The SSU estimates the value of the destroyed Russian strategic aircraft at Russian airfields at seven billion dollars.
After the large-scale SSU attack on Russian airfields, the first satellite images of the long-range aviation base «Belaia» in Irkutsk region were published online. The images show significant damage and destruction of Russian warplanes.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that successful Ukrainian operations, such as the recent «Pavutyna», should make Russia think about the diplomatic route.
