US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the initiators of tougher sanctions against Russia, said that Dmitry Medvedev's rhetoric shows that Russia is completely unprepared for a peaceful settlement.
He wrote about this on social media platform X, commenting on Medvedev's latest post after Ukrainian drones attacked Russian airfields.
In his post, the deputy head of the Russian Security Council threatened «with retaliation against» and «by destroying» and said that the talks in Istanbul were not aimed at compromise, but only «Russia's quick victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi» government in Ukraine.
In response, Graham said he appreciated what Medvedev had made clear: «Putin and Russia are not at all interested in peace».
«I congratulate Mr Medvedev on a rare moment of honesty on the part of the Russian propaganda machine», the senator added.
As a reminder, the first deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Oleksii Chepa, said that a third round of talks with Ukraine is possible by the end of June, but on condition that Kyiv refrains from new attacks on Russian airfields.
