Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitrii Peskov has said that Moscow will not publicly discuss the terms of its «memorandum» on resolving the situation in Ukraine, stressing that such talks should be held in a closed regime.

This was reported by the Russian news agencies TASS and «RIA Novosti», citing a briefing by the press secretary of the Russian president.

«Russia will not publicly discuss the content of the documents on the settlement in Ukraine, the negotiations should be held in a non-public mode», said Dmitrii Peskov.

He also criticised Ukraine's position, calling «unconstructive» the demand to immediately hand over the memorandum proposed by Moscow.

He also stressed the importance of continuing direct talks between Russia and Ukraine. Peskov also said that a possible conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US presidential candidate Donald Trump «could be organised at any time», as all communication channels «are established».

Earlier, Dmitrii Peskov said that Ukraine has not yet responded to Russia's proposal to hold a second round of talks in Istanbul on 2 June.

As a reminder, Russia plans to hand over its developments within the framework of a memorandum on conflict resolution to Ukraine in the coming days.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently stated that the second round of peace talks with Ukraine will take place, and that Moscow is in the final stages of working on the memorandum. He also stated that holding elections in Ukraine would be «the best option» to determine who could sign a peace agreement on behalf of Kyiv.

Earlier, the European Commission confirmed that the next direct talks between Ukraine and Russia could be held with the participation of the European Union and the United States.
