Today, 15 May, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met in Turkey with his counterparts from Germany, Poland and France — Jean-Noël Barrot, Johannes Wadefull and Radoslaw Sikorski.
According to Andrii Sybiha on social media platform X, the talks were held in the format of «Weimar+».
«I reaffirmed President Zelenskyy's commitment to advancing peace efforts and informed our partners of the latest developments on the battlefield and on the diplomatic front. We coordinated our next steps, continued cooperation with the United States and efforts to ensure long-term peace and security in Ukraine and across our Europe,» said the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
In addition, he added that it is necessary «to increase pressure on Moscow to force it to peace».
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he had no information on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would attend the talks in Istanbul on 15 May. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of his own participation in this event.
It should be noted that the Kremlin is still not ready to name the composition of the Russian delegation, but confirms that its representatives will be waiting for the Ukrainian side in Istanbul.
According to the Washington Post, Russia may be represented at the talks by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Presidential Adviser on International Affairs Yurii Ushakov.
Earlier, however, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that he was looking forward to direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
