The Lithuanian Seimas has adopted a resolution stating that the parliament does not recognise the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia as its property, either legally or factually.

This is reported by LRT.

The document was voted in favour by 118 MPs, no one raised any objections. The resolution states that Ukraine is a sovereign European state with the right to independently determine its domestic, foreign and security policy. Its internationally recognised borders remain as they were in 1991.

Remigijus Motuzas, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, stressed that it is important not only to end the war, but also to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity.

The Seimas also called on the parliaments of other countries to adopt similar resolutions to show support for Ukraine and prevent any international recognition of Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territories.

Earlier, the Baltic defence ministers warned that a ceasefire in Ukraine could significantly increase the security threat in the region. They believe that Russia will use this time to rearm and redeploy its troops to NATO's northeastern flank.
