The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, has reminded city council members that their term of office expires in six months.

He mentioned this during a discussion of the privatisation of municipal property at an online session of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

In particular, deputy Artem Illiuk suggested that the mayor should specify in the draft decision that all the money from the sale of the facilities would go to support the army. The mayor replied that this decision could be made by the session.

«First and foremost, the main role of Mykolaiv city council members, like any deputies representing local governments, is to manage assets, which include the budget, communal property, and land. All these decisions related to these issues are made by the session. You and I can make such a decision. I think it is logical and, let's say, timely. We can do it, we can even write it in the draft decision if you insist or see the need for it,» the mayor said.

At the same time, he noted that the privatisation process is lengthy, and the deputy corps may not have time to sell all the objects before the end of their term.

«We will conduct a separate assessment of this property, prepare for the auction, and hold auctions. I would like to remind you, colleagues, that our term of office expires in November this year. If the war is over, I mean that we are limited by time. And it may happen that a large number of these projects will not be implemented,» reminded Alexander Sienkevych.

In support of this, Tetiana Dmytrova, acting head of the municipal property department, noted that if all the necessary documents for an object are available, its sale can take 1.5 to 2 months, and privatisation of all 114 objects will take up to six months.

As a reminder, following the discussion of this issue, the city council members failed to vote in favour of selling 114 municipal property through auction.
