US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Russia's intense shelling of Ukraine.

He said this during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office.

The American leader stressed that he was concerned about the scale of the bombing, which has recently intensified significantly. He described the situation as «very bad».

Donald Trump also said that the United States supports negotiations with both parties to the conflict — both Ukraine and Russia — in order to reach a peaceful settlement. At the same time, he stressed that he could not remain indifferent to the active attacks that have been going on for about a week.

«I don't know what is happening there. It is not a good situation. That's why we are meeting with Russia, we are meeting with Ukraine. And we are kind of getting closer to it. But I'm not happy about all this bombing that's been going on for the last week or so. It's terrible. It's terrible», he stressed.

Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the Russian authorities should decide in the coming weeks whether they are ready to end a full-scale war. According to Marco Rubio, the US wants to end the war as soon as possible and needs to know whether Russia wants it.

It should be noted that the Donald Trump administration has been discussing the possibility that the United States will not be able to reach a peace agreement on Ukraine in the coming months. In this regard, new mechanisms are being developed to put pressure on both Kyiv and Moscow.

According to Reuters, after the latest rounds of talks, the White House and the State Department have concluded that Vladimir Putin is actively resisting US attempts to conclude a lasting peace agreement. Washington is discussing possible economic and diplomatic measures that could force the Kremlin to make concessions.

Although Trump has repeatedly stated that he trusts Putin and believes he is committed to peace, recent events have made the White House question the Russian leadership's intentions. The administration is considering additional sanctions and tariffs that could be imposed on Russia.

Meanwhile, Moscow has made it clear that American proposals to end the war are unacceptable to it, as they do not take into account the Kremlin's demands, which it calls the key causes of the conflict.

According to Marco Rubio, Washington will work on peace talks as long as it takes. However, their success depends not only on the United States, but primarily on Ukraine and Russia.

As a reminder, Donald Trump has stated that he has some control over the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war and can stop Vladimir Putin.
