US President Donald Trump is confident of reaching an agreement with Russia to end the war next week.

This was reported by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, The Hill reports.

Speaking to reporters after the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Levitt said that Trump and his team are actively working on peace talks.

«The president and his team are very focused on continuing to negotiate with both sides of this war to end the conflict, and the president is very confident that we can do that this (coming) week,» she said.

Her comments came as Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy «has no bargaining chips» and that he should stop negotiating with international leaders for a peaceful settlement.

Levitt also stressed that National Security Adviser Mike Volz would work around the clock to reach a deal over the weekend. In addition, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed a possible deal on natural resource extraction with Ukrainian representatives.

According to her, the issue of critical minerals is a key priority for Trump, as such cooperation could be beneficial for both the US economy and Ukraine's recovery from the war. It should be noted that the new draft US minerals agreement provides for the distribution of revenues from resources in the liberated territories of Ukraine.
