President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that some Ukrainian and international leaders were dishonest when making statements about Ukraine's accession to NATO.

He said this during a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

«I think it was not a very transparent policy from some states at first, and they did not support us in NATO. It was just a false statement: «Yes, Ukraine will be in NATO». And it was not fair to Ukraine and Ukrainians. It was also dishonest on the part of our leaders. When some of our leaders said: «We were promised that we would be in NATO». And it was also dishonest», the president said.

He also criticised the weak position of Germany and the United States on Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.

«And there was a weak position of Germany and the United States. Because they had a dialogue with the Russians. And I believe that they lost this dialogue. They lost it because they always appeal to the fact that they once had some kind of agreement with the Russians. As a Ukrainian, I have a question: why did you suddenly agree on us without us?», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said .

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that four countries do not yet see Ukraine as a NATO member.
