On the night of 20 April, Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv using Shahed-type drones. The strike and falling debris damaged tram tracks and residential buildings, and caused a temporary power cut for some residents.
This was reported by a correspondent for NikVesti.
The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration noted that the shelling damaged one apartment block, 15 private houses in two districts of the city, a car, tram tracks and a power line. There were no casualties.
The owner of the company Yuhteplomer-Service, near which the drone debris fell, said he found out about the damage first thing in the morning.
«No one phoned, no one told me anything. I came to work this morning — and this is the ‘good morning’ I got. Windows, doors and office equipment are damaged. It’s a relief that everyone is alive and unharmed,» the man said.
Local residents say they didn’t realise at first what had happened, but after the explosion, when they went outside, they saw the debris and the fire.
«The rear window of my car was blown out. We were sitting at home, tidying up, when we heard the explosion — and the windows immediately started shattering. The windows are gone, and the gate was hit too. We didn’t realise straight away that it had happened nearby, but when we went out — everything was on fire,» said local resident Larysa.
«I was at work; it all happened right before my eyes. My wife was home alone, so I rushed straight home. Everything’s intact here, just minor damage,» added local resident Ivan.
Oleksandr Sovok, a foreman at the production site for Mykolaivoblenergo, reported that two streets were left without power due to damage to the power lines, and restoration work is currently underway.
«An insulated cable has been damaged in this section, causing a power cut to the line leading to Pohranychna Street. The outage occurred around 1 am following the drone strike. The area from Bedzai Street to Pohranychna Street was left without power. We are currently working on the repairs and plan to restore the power supply today,» said Oleksandr Sovok.
It was previously reported that workers from the «Pilot» Emergency Response Unit are dealing with the aftermath in the residential sector: they are boarding up windows and beginning roof repairs.
