A farewell reception to mark the end of Ambassador Mikkelsen's term in office took place in Kyiv

On Wednesday, 24 September, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen and his wife Anne-Marie held a farewell reception in Kyiv to mark the end of his diplomatic cadence, which officially expires on 30 September after more than five years.

The farewell reception was attended by politicians from Mykolaiv, according to the Embassy's Facebook page.

The photographs show the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration Vitalii Kim with his wife Yuliia, the head of the regional council Anton Tabunschyk, and Mykolaiv businessman and MP Mykola Kapatsyna.

The farewell reception was also attended by MP Mykola Kapatsyna: Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine

Among those present in the photo is Andrii Vadatursky, CEO of «NIBULON».

The event was also attended by the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, but he is not in the photo.

In their speech, Mykolaiv officials emphasised Denmark's key role in supporting the city and the region since 2022, when the country took over the partnership.

During the ceremony, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen received awards from the city of Mykolaiv, the regional council and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Last month, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded him the Order of «For Merit» of the II degree.

«This is a great honour for me, but I take it very modestly. After all, I know very well that this award is not for me personally. It is a recognition of the strong partnership between Denmark and Ukraine that has developed since 2022», Ambassador Mikkelsen said in his farewell speech.

Ukrainian officials at the event included former Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov and former Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov.

As a reminder, a new award was recently presented in Mykolaiv — «The Badge of Honour of the City of Mykolaiv». Ole Egberg Mikkelsen is one of the first to receive this award.
