In Mykolaiv, volunteers organized the exhibition «2 years: the price of freedom» for the anniversary of the full-scale war in the renovated shelter near the House of Fleet Officers.

More than 100 works of Mykolaiv photographers Serhii Kononenko and Dmytro Skorokhodov were presented at the exhibition-installation, NikVesti writes.

Among the works were exclusive shots that had not been published anywhere before. As the organizers of the event note, «rare photos from places of events that have already become history.»

«Actually, it is not only two years since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but also two years of the life of the HFO as a volunteer center,» volunteer Volodymyr Aleksieiev said.

According to him, on February 25, HFO «lived a new life, which it had never lived before.» On that day, the head of Mykolaiv RMA Vitalii Kim recorded a video in which he called on Mykolaiv residents who do not want to live under occupation to join the public resistance in HFO.

«And this is exactly what started the first Molotov cocktails, the first meetings, the first checkpoint on February 26, built by those who gathered here,» said Volodymyr Aleksieiev.

Therefore, in addition to works dedicated to the life of Mykolaiv people during the war, the exhibition includes photographs related to volunteer activities.

The event was also attended by the Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, who awarded the public organization «HFO» with the honorary award «For the Defense of Mykolaiv». Instead, Volodymyr Aleksieiev presented the mayor with a limited edition miniature figurine of the House of Fleet Officers.

At the end of the evening, candlelit jazz performed by Volodymyr Aleksieiev's «Performance band» from Mykolaiv was played on the stage in the shelter.
