Tried to avoid justice under the guise of a resettled person: the SSU detained a woman suspected of collaboration in Mykolaiv

The security service detained two women from the Kherson region, suspected of organizing the illegal referendum of the Russian Federation, which took place during the occupation of the right-bank Kherson region. One of them was caught in Mykolaiv.

One of the participants in the case was detained in Mykolaiv, and the other in the Chernivtsi region. The SSU stated that they tried to avoid justice under the guise of resettled women.

According to the investigation, after the capture of the Kherson region, both supported the invaders and became members of the occupation «election committees».

«While in the ranks of the pseudo-institution, female collaborators agitated local residents to «vote for the accession» of Kherson Oblast to Russia. Then the 28-year-old resident of Chornobaiivka gathered a group of «like-minded people» and recorded a video report on the results of the fake plebiscite, which was broadcast on Russian TV channels. Another criminal made yard visits to the houses of her fellow villagers and collected «necessary» marks in «bulletins. She was accompanied by armed invaders who threatened to imprison and confiscate property if people refused to support the Kremlin project,» the message reads.

According to the SBU, for cooperating with the aggressor, the defendant received a one-time monetary «reward» and promises of further «prospects» in the occupation institution.

After the liberation of the region, the women fled to various cities in the south and west of Ukraine, where they tried to «lie down,» according to law enforcement officers.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the detainees of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

• part 2 of article 28, part 5 of article 111-1 (collaborative activity, voluntary employment by a citizen of Ukraine of a position related to the performance of organizational-managerial or administrative-economic functions in illegal authorities, committed by a group of persons based on prior collusion);
• part 1 of article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine).

They face up to 10 years in prison.
