Over 16% of schools in Mykolaiv are working with community organisations to address learning losses

In Mykolaiv, over 16% of educational institutions are collaborating with community organisations to help pupils make up for lost learning.

In particular, schools are collaborating with the ‘Be Successful’ Charitable Foundation, the ‘Teach for Ukraine’ NGO, and the Association for Innovative and Digital Education, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), to address learning losses.
«The institution is developing a strategy to address learning loss through extra lessons, revision of the curriculum, and collaboration with NGOs, charitable foundations and associations to establish appropriate digital education centres within the institutions,» the Mykolaiv City Council’s Education Department reported.
It should be noted that, according to monitoring results in Mykolaiv, the greatest educational losses among pupils are observed in mathematics, the Ukrainian language, history and English. At the same time, a gradual improvement in pupils’ academic performance is being recorded in the city.
In particular, pupils’ academic performance figures for the first term of the 2025–2026 academic year showed positive changes: in mathematics by 1.7%, in Ukrainian by 2.2%, in history by 2.6%, and in English by 2.4%.
