On the night of 9 January, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Kyiv. Four people were killed and 24 more were injured as a result of the shelling. In addition, a number of districts in the capital experienced interruptions in electricity, water and heating supplies.
This was reported by the Kyiv police, the State Emergency Service and the Kyiv City State Administration.
Among the dead was a medical worker. Among those injured were rescuers and medics who were working at the site of the strike in the Darnytskyi district during the second attack.
In the Darnytskyi district, a shop was damaged and windows were broken in a nine-storey building due to a drone crashing in the courtyard of a residential building. Debris from the UAV also caused fires in two residential buildings and garages.
In the Desnianskyi district, a drone hit the roof of an 18-storey building, causing a fire. A fire was also reported in a five-storey residential building, and smoke was reported in the entrance hall of another building. In addition, a shopping centre and a sanatorium were damaged.
In the Dniprovskyi district, debris from drones caused fires in 16— and 9-storey residential buildings. The blast wave partially destroyed the roof of a three-storey building. Debris also fell on a playground and near a tram depot.
The consequences of the attack were also recorded in the Pecherskyi district, where the facade of a nine-storey residential building was damaged.
